Every day I write at least one haiku, and today I’ll share some from training camp as a bonus blog. We leave for the airport at 5am!

Helping pitch a tent
Sharing tales of first kisses
Worshipping till night

Cracked shower ladel
Spiders in the stall with me
Cool bucket water

Can we flip towels?
Slowly lower hula hoops?
Cross rivers on “rafts?”

Thoughts on this worship?
Group reflection and critique
Heart posture matters

Shirt swirls in bucket
Dunk, splash, scrub, squeeze, ring it out
Trust the sun from there

Alone in worship
Stranger comes to me with words
Heart and eyes shed tears

Chaos dodgeballs fly
A gently rehearsed group skit
Z Squad takes 3rd place

Dim lights, soft music
Pools of renewing water
Cheering and wet hugs

Cards at the table
Pleasantly mundane Sabbath
Night walk with Jacob

Black sky, insects trill
Three wooden porch chairs rocking
Whispering to God

Market bodies swarm
Bus honking, vendors shouting
Watchful of teammates

Unhoused with new job
Gift of ice-cream makes him smile
“I need friends like you”

Middle name “David”
Literally “Beloved”
Can’t I accept that?

Heavy packs, steep trails
Foggy forest photo-op
Rain all the way down
